Children's Conversation
For many children it is easy to strike up a conversation or join one already in progress but for others not so much. In today’s media-centered world, many children and teenagers lack interpersonal, communication and social skills. They are comfortable posting a picture or a comment online and communicating from behind a screen, however real-time conversations often stump them. Learning how to have conversations is important for children’s development, relationships, and well-being. Our 60-minute workshop will cover some of the following topics:

Topics include:

  • How to start a conversation

  • Icebreakers to start a conversation

  • How to keep a conversation going

  • How to end a conversation

  • Topics to avoid

  • Active listening and not interrupting

  • Being respectful and non-judgmental

  • Rude and disrespectful body language and behavior

  • Giving and receiving compliments
