Group CyclingAddress: Core Cycle (299 West Main St.)A 50-minute class designed to challenge your body and mind. Be coached to the next level of fitness by experienced instructors who will take you on a ride designed to improve cardiovascular strength and endurance, while also improving muscular strength, speed, and endurance. Whether you are a seasoned on-road rider, a spinning enthusiast, or just starting your journey, our instructors will challenge you on endurance-based, interval, and strength-based or race-day style rides that will reward you with a higher level of fitness and confidence. NOTE: Cycling classes are located at Core Cycle, 299 West Main Street (in the same plaza as Romaine's). For your safety, there is no admittance after 10 minutes of the class start time. Notify your instructor if you are a new rider and please arrive 10 minutes before the start time to get properly set up on the bike. Please bring water and a towel into class. Pedals have toe straps which accommodate athletic footwear.    Core Barre CardioAddress: 290 W. Main St - Main Studio This barre routine will have you working up a sweat in no time, combining barre exercises with high-intensity cardio intervals! This fun, upbeat full body workout is an efficient way to build muscle and burn calories long after your workout is over. We'll get your heart pumping and bring a smile to your face! Don't worry, we’ll give you low and high impact options to suit YOUR comfort level. Get ready to have a cardio blast! Students take class barefoot or you can wear grip socks.Zumba ToningAddress: 290 W. Main St - Main StudioWhen it comes to body sculpting, Zumba® Toning raises the bar (or rather, the toning stick). It combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness-party. Students learn how to use lightweight, maraca-like Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone all their target zones, including arms, abs and thighs. Zumba Toning is the perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a total blast. (NOTE: If you own Zumba toning sticks please bring them. Shrewsbury Recreation has once again partnered with our local US Take Kwon Do Center to offer martial arts classes to a variety of ages at an affordable price. Classes will take place at their location: 370 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury*For new members only!You will receive your first uniform at no additional charge.We hope that learning martial arts at US Tae Kwon Do centers will be a rewarding activity with physical and mental benefits that will last a lifetime. What is Tae Kwon Do and how is it different from other martial arts? The different martial arts all originated in different countries thousands of years ago as forms of self-defense. For example, Karate comes from Japan, Kung Fu from China and Tae Kwon Do is native to Korea.In terms of martial art techniques, Tae Kwon Do emphasizes kicks more than other martial arts, making it ideal for improving your child's strength, balance, flexibility and endurance.Little Tigers: Ages 3-5The purpose of this program is to develop your child's confidence by letting them discover what they can accomplish on their own. Also, it helps to prepare them for preschool and kindergarten by interacting with other students and developing a sense of teamwork and discipline.Children White Belt: Ages 6-12Through a carefully structured curriculum, experienced instructors will introduce fundamental Tae Kwon Do techniques and principles in a fun and engaging manner. Age: 15 and up.Date and Location: Saturday, Dec 7th at Bowlero in AuburnTime: 9:00am to 11:30amRegional Qualifier: Sunday, February, 16 in AuburnState Games: Sunday, February, 16 in AuburnRegistration is capped at 24. Preference is given to Shrewsbury residents or current members of the program as long as you register by the deadline. Please NOTE: If you are registering for bowling, we are assuming that you are planning to bowl in the state tournament. Additionally: If you also sign up for basketball and you have a League Play basketball game the same day as the Regional Qualifier, the expectation is that as you have committed to a team, you will participate in the team sport and not the individual sport.  There is only one qualifying round before the state tournament. You must participate in the qualifying round to qualify for the final tournament. Participation in the state tournament is based on your attendance at practice and the result of your bowling in the qualifier. Unfortunately, it may be that everyone will qualify for the state tournament - that depends on how well you bowl in the qualifier. The regional qualifier for will be held Sunday, February 16 in Auburn. The State Games, for those who qualify, will be Sunday, March 16 in Auburn.

Rec Connect is going back to the Worcester Railers!Join us for sensory friendly night at the Railers as they take on the Atlanta Gladiators! Drop off at Shrewsbury Town Hall at 5:45 pm, game time is 7:05 pm. Transportation to the DCU Center will be provided. Estimated return time is 9:15 pm. Please bring your own money for snacks and souveniers. Assistance with ordering and money management will be provided as needed by Recreation Staff. This program is intended for participants with disabilities, ages 15 and up. Buddies and caregivers are welcome to attend, but also need to register and pay for the program.

Preference is given to Shrewsbury residents or current members of the program as long as you register by the deadline. Please NOTE: If you are registering for bowling, we are assuming that you are planning to bowl in the state tournament. Additionally: If you also sign up for basketball and you have a League Play basketball game the same day as the Regional Qualifier, the expectation is that as you have committed to a team, you will participate in the team sport and not the individual sport.  There is only one qualifying round before the state tournament. You must participate in the qualifying round to qualify for the final tournament. Participation in the state tournament is based on your attendance at practice and the result of your bowling in the qualifier. Unfortunately, it may be that everyone will qualify for the state tournament - that depends on how well you bowl in the qualifier. The regional qualifier for will be held Sunday, February 16 in Auburn. The State Games, for those who qualify, will be Sunday, March 16 in Auburn.

Preference is given to Shrewsbury residents or current members of the program as long as you register by the deadline. Please NOTE: If you are registering for bowling, we are assuming that you are planning to bowl in the state tournament. Additionally: If you also sign up for basketball and you have a League Play basketball game the same day as the Regional Qualifier, the expectation is that as you have committed to a team, you will participate in the team sport and not the individual sport.  There is only one qualifying round before the state tournament. You must participate in the qualifying round to qualify for the final tournament. Participation in the state tournament is based on your attendance at practice and the result of your bowling in the qualifier. Unfortunately, it may be that everyone will qualify for the state tournament - that depends on how well you bowl in the qualifier. The regional qualifier for will be held Sunday, February 16 in Auburn. The State Games, for those who qualify, will be Sunday, March 16 in Auburn.

Shrewsbury Recreation has once again partnered with our local US Take Kwon Do Center to offer martial arts classes to a variety of ages at an affordable price. Classes will take place at their location: 370 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury*For new members only!You will receive your first uniform at no additional charge.We hope that learning martial arts at US Tae Kwon Do centers will be a rewarding activity with physical and mental benefits that will last a lifetime. What is Tae Kwon Do and how is it different from other martial arts? The different martial arts all originated in different countries thousands of years ago as forms of self-defense. For example, Karate comes from Japan, Kung Fu from China and Tae Kwon Do is native to Korea.In terms of martial art techniques, Tae Kwon Do emphasizes kicks more than other martial arts, making it ideal for improving your child's strength, balance, flexibility and endurance.Little Tigers: Ages 3-5The purpose of this program is to develop your child's confidence by letting them discover what they can accomplish on their own. Also, it helps to prepare them for preschool and kindergarten by interacting with other students and developing a sense of teamwork and discipline.Children White Belt: Ages 6-12Through a carefully structured curriculum, experienced instructors will introduce fundamental Tae Kwon Do techniques and principles in a fun and engaging manner. From mastering basic kicks and punches to learning proper stances and forms, your child will develop a solid foundation in Tae Kwon Do while improving their balance, coordination, and flexibility.But Tae Kwon Do is more than just physical exercise – it's also about cultivating important life skills such as respect, self-control, and perseverance. In our classes, students will not only learn how to defend themselves but also how to respect themselves and others, both inside and outside the dojang.Teen/Adult Class: Ages 13+Tae Kwon Do is safe and fun for students of all ages and physical abilities. Classes are supervised by expert instructors and all students are taught techniques in a step-by-step manner and at their own pace. A thorough stretching routine, matted flooring, and the use of protective safety equipment are all part of our commitment to ensuring student safety. At the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Centers, beginners are always welcome and we make it easy for new students of all fitness levels to get started. In addition, the belt system used in Tae Kwon Do allows all students to train at their own pace and improve their physical condition gradually.
